    Chapbooks
I now have chapbooks for sale. $7ppd.

they are very good, if I do say so myself.

30 pages. printed on high grade card stock.

Aidan O'Flynn did the cover and design.
he did such an impressive job I had to pay him for it.
if you don't buy it for me, buy it for him.

    one from bukowski
"When my mind cleared it was 4 a.m. All the lights were on and everybody was gone. I was still sitting there. I found a warm beer and drank it. Then I went to bed with the feeling that all drunks know: that I had been a fool but to hell with it."

    kittie kat haiku
two of my kittie kat haiku ended up on the xiu xiu blog when they had an open call for cat based poems on the hotline. since their blog scrolls down everyday I'll post them here too. I had another poem I was going to give them before the time ran out about a girl who wants to be a cat lady but her kittens keep dying, I'll save it for the book. which is all written, by the way, and I'm just about to start another round of submissions.

    she makes my nose itch
kitty cat i wish you'd leave
but yes you are quite cute

    the coyotes ate it

[in case anyone is wondering, the word "coyote" is pronounced "kye-oat" in west virginia, and they love kittens.]

cravan pocket bread (a staple for 2000 years)

I just bought this fresh pita break from Fred's Market on University and MLK. It is so good I can not stop eating it. I am too busy eating it to think of anything else to say.

    berkeley in the morning
the berkeley I am used to does not exist at nine o'clock on a sunday morning. I could walk down the middle of milvia or center and not worry about cars.

and the few people who do drive by see my hair from a distance and assume I am part of the character of the street. one of those shambling middle aged men in winter coats who crowd behind rows of shopping carts in a doorway and maybe have a dog or something.

when I get to mlk and university the city looks alive, if drowsy, and I wait for the light to change, still at my age the youngest person on the sidewalk or in a car.

gullah-I'm sure this interests no one but me
gullah is an african america language spoken by the geographically isolated descendants of slaves residing on the sea islands off the coasts of south carolina and georgia.

it is spoken by at least a quarter million people. it is an english based creole tongue with heavy african influence.

it's most famous native speaker is supreme court justice clarence thomas, who learned common english later in life.

    samples:

Uh gwine gone dey tomorruh. -- "I will go there tomorrow."
We blan ketch 'nuf cootuh dey. -- "We always catch a lot of turtles there."
Dem yent yeddy wuh oonuh say. -- "They did not hear what you said."
Dem chillun binnuh nyam all we rice. -- "Those children were eating all our rice."
'E tell'um say 'e haffuh do'um. -- "He told him that he had to do it."
Duh him tell we say dem duh faa'muh. -- "He's the one who told us that they are farmers."
De buckruh dey duh 'ood duh hunt tuckrey.--"The white man is in the woods hunting turkeys."
Alltwo dem 'ooman done fuh smaa't. -- "Both those women are really smart."
Enty duh dem shum dey? -- "Aren't they the ones who saw him there?"

    falling star magazine

I've just had my first published pieces of poetry since I was sixteen years old go to print. it's a wonderful little magazine out of southern california called Falling Star, and this is horrible self-promotion right now, but if anyone is interested you can get a copy for free if you email the editor your address. the other poets are very good as well and worth the price of free.

    new male scent
After launching Le Mâle in 1994, Jean-Paul Gaultier is now ready to introduce a second fragrance in the franchise. The new perfume Fleur du Mâle - a play on the name of Charles Baudelaire's collection of poems, Les Fleurs du Mal (The Flowers of Evil) - will retain part of the name as well as the shape of the flacon of Le Mâle but otherwise will be very different. Le Mâle, it is worth noting, represents more than 5% of the European Masculine fragrance market.....

According to Cosmetic News "The scent has retained the fougere note from the original scent, but is developed around a new olfactory story based on the orange blossom, formulated by Takasago’s Francis Kurkdjian. It comes in a white signature bust-shaped bottle housed in a white tin. The visual for the advertising campaign, shot by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, shows a young, smiling man sitting in a bath of white flowers."

The perfume will launch on 10th of March 2007 in the Jean-Paul Gaultier boutiques first and will roll out worldwide in April.

    jacob thomas
jacob thomas is the name of a sub-jeff buckeley singer songwriter with a couple videos on youtube.

jacob thomas is a thirty year old mid-fielder with the columbus crew.

it is also the name of a welsh recepient of the victoria cross. during the indian mutiny he rescued a wounded comrade at great risk to his own life and limb. he was twenty four years old. he died in his late seventies before the start of the first world war.

for the time being the wikipedia article on "Jacob Thomas" starts with an italicized claim that the author is the real jacob thomas. he was never a bombardier with the madras fusiliers and he doesn't care much for futbol. I didn't write it.

    these things
these things always happen when I'm not careful with my diet. eat a bar of chocolate and I have a miserable fit and then stay up until two in the morning and probably a little later than that. I hope I take some kind of lesson from this, but it's hard when your memory drops after an episode.
